  4. The volume to be cataloged MUST be an HFS volume.  If you're using system 6.0.5 or later (including System 7.x.x), you can be certain that your volumes are HFS volumes.
  5. Some Bernoulli drives and Opticals are NOT HFS-compatible.

The Catalog Menu is "built" only once, during intialization when Catalog 3.0 first starts up.  So be sure the volume you want to catalog is mounted BEFORE you double click on Catalog 3.0.  Also, DON'T try to catalog a volume that you have un-mounted, even though its name may still appear in the Catalog Menu.
